Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in Martial Arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.

Master Chris Fortin

 

At the age of 10, Master Chris started his martial arts training at his father’s school,  and has been assisting and teaching classes ever since.  He has competed in hundreds of regional & national competitions & consistently placed in the top 3.  At the age of 15, Chris earned his 1st degree black belt, and after high school he spent a year living in Grand Master Lee’s school training and managing the school.  In 2002, Master Chris lived in Hamilton, Ontario for work where he opened a French Immersion martial arts school.   In 2006, he received his 5th degree black belt in Kuk Sool-Hapkido, and took over the operation of the Sudbury KMAC. In 2009, Master Chris was the WKA Canadian National Champion in his respective division.  Over the years, his students have won numerous awards at local and northern tournaments as well as ranking in top positions at the Canadian & World Championships.  In 2013, Chris was one of the recipients of Sudbury’s 40 under 40 awards, and in 2014 won the Sudbury Civic Award for volunteerism and the GenNext Volunteer Award for Active Living.  A highlight for Master Chris was coaching eight of his students  that represented Sudbury at the 2014 World Karate Championships in Dublin,Ireland. All 8 ranked in the top 4 and brought home a total of 17 medals including 3 World Championships.  In 2014, Master Chris was promoted to 6th degree and was made an executive of the KMAC schools.   Master Chris has taught thousands of students in his martial arts career.  Outside of KMAC, Master Chris is a fulltime millwright professor at College Boreal, and loves spending time with his wife Nicki, daughter Emilie and son Eric.
